Thank you for your advocacy to protect Medicaid and access to affordable health care!
Unfortunately, Congress recently voted to make the biggest cuts to Medicaid in history by passing a budget bill that strips away affordable health insurance from nearly 12 million people while also increasing health care costs. This vote will impact the fight against cancer for years to come. Cancer patients could be kicked off their health insurance and left without access to the treatment they need. Others could have to go without the cancer screenings and preventive care that could save their lives.
As we work to assess the impact of the bill and what it means for the fight against cancer, here are three other campaigns that need your advocacy now:
Fighting Cuts to Cancer Research FundingThe president's recent budget proposal calls for devastating cuts to research funding and completely eliminates programs that help detect cancer early. Cuts to research funding, workforce reductions, and spending freezes all jeopardize progress in the fight against cancer. |
Supporting Early Cancer Detection InnovationA bill is moving through Congress that could make it easier for people to access groundbreaking multi-cancer early detection screening tests. It might sound like a mouthful, but it's groundbreaking new science that could detect dozens of cancers with one simple test. This bill would make these tests more available to people who need them most. |
Protecting Affordable Health Insurance from Sudden Cost HikesUnless Congress acts in the next few months, health insurance costs will surge for millions of people. Currently, millions of people are receiving enhanced health insurance tax credits to help them afford their health insurance. For many cancer patients, it's the only way they can afford their cancer treatment. Without these tax credits, more than 5 million people will lose their health coverage and millions more could see their premiums increase more than 50%.
